Ingredients:

  • 300 ml Milk
  • 1 Egg
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Baking Powder
  • 300 gr Wheat Flour

For the Syrup:

  • 200 gr Sugar
  • 100 ml Water
  • Lemon Slice
  • Sunflower Oil for Frying

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Dough:
    • In a mixing bowl, combine the milk, egg, salt, and baking powder.
    • Gradually add the wheat flour, stirring continuously until a smooth dough forms.
  2. Shape the Dough:
    • On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough to a thickness of about 1/4 inch.
    • Using a cookie cutter or a knife, cut the dough into desired shapes. You can go for classic shapes like circles or squares, or get creative with fun shapes like hearts or stars!
  3. Make the Syrup:
    • In a saucepan, combine the sugar, water, and a slice of lemon.
    • Bring the mixture to a gentle boil, stirring occasionally, until the sugar has completely dissolved.
  4. Fry the Dough:
    • In a separate pan, heat sunflower oil over medium heat.
    • Carefully place the dough shapes into the hot oil, frying them until they turn golden brown on both sides. Make sure not to overcrowd the pan, frying in batches if necessary.
  5. Coat with Syrup:
    • Once the dough shapes are crispy and golden, remove them from the oil and drain on paper towels to remove excess oil.
    • While still warm, dip the fried dough shapes into the prepared syrup, ensuring they are well-coated on all sides.
  6. Serve and Enjoy:
    • Allow the syrup-coated dough shapes to cool slightly before serving.
    • Garnish with a sprinkle of powdered sugar or your favorite toppings, if desired.
    • Enjoy these delicious sweet dough snacks with family and friends, and watch them disappear within moments!
